Brief — Colorado ‘Dashboard’

The Colorado Oil/Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) has launched an online information source,Daily Activity Dashboard, that captures on a county-by-county basis oil and natural gas activity statewide. COGCC said the tool can locate information on pending permits, well status, production, well inspection data, violation notices, operator notifications and spills. It is being provided as a supplement to COGCC’s existing and extensive web-based data search tools, a spokesperson said.

$8 Resistance Continues to Hold as Futures Creep Higher

Borrowing the premise from the 1993 movie Groundhog Day in which Bill Murray’s character is doomed to continually repeat the same day of his life forever, natural gas futures traders find themselves continuing to assault $8 psychological resistance in the December contract only to experience the same result each time — failure. On Monday the prompt month reached a high of $8 in afternoon trading before sinking to close at $7.894, up a dime from Friday’s close.

Shell Oil Co. said Wednesday that it has appointed Steve Murray, currently president of Shell Trading United States, to succeed Alan Raymond as CEO of Shell Energy Services Co. LLC. The company said the switch will take effect on Dec. 1. Shell said that Raymond has been instrumental in the operation of Shell Energy Services since its inception. He is retiring after 34 years of service.
