Greenwood, SC Looking for Energy Provider

The Greenwood Commissioners of Public Works (CPW), the municipalorganization responsible for the energy needs for the city ofGreenwood, SC, said it has entered the market for a total energyprovider. The CPW is searching for companies with tangible assetsto provide comprehensive energy supply services, including powersupply and gas supply. Energy supply proposals may includealternatives ranging from full requirements service to thedevelopment of owned generating resources, the CPW said.

Marietta, GA, Municipal Selects Columbia

Georgia deregulation proved it is in full throttle last week asthe municipality representing the city of Marietta formed analliance with Columbia Energy’s Georgia affiliate, Columbia EnergyRetail Corp. The alliance calls for a 10-year deal with the city ata guaranteed base price of 39.9 cents per therm for one year and acontractual promise to be competitive for the other nine. Themunicipality includes between 30,000 and 40,000 gas customers.

Tengasco Begins East TN Service

Gas has started flowing to industrial, residential and municipalcustomers on Tengasco Inc.’s East Tennessee pipeline system. TheEast Tennessee communities of Sneedville and Rogersville beganreceiving service one day after the State of Tennessee RegulatoryAuthority issued a permit allowing Tengasco to open the valves ofits 28-mile line. The line, which gathers Appalachian productionand carries it directly to endusers, currently is supplying about10 MMcf/d, but at maximum capacity can provide 48 MMcf/d.
