Marathon Petroleum Corp.’s two master limited partnerships (MLP) MPLX LP and Andeavor Logistics LP agreed Wednesday to combine in a transaction with an estimated equity value of $9 billion to enhance midstream prospects across the Lower 48.

Targa also agreed to contribute the 120 MMcf/d cryogenic Tupelo Plant in Coal County. In exchange, Targa would maintain its 60% interest and be paid an undisclosed amount by MPLX, its 40% partner.

Shipper interest is high to reverse the Capline oil pipeline, which would carry Canadian heavy crude supply to the Gulf Coast for potential refining or export, Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) CEO Gary Heminger said Thursday.
