California regulators have taken steps to smooth the way for thestate’s first merchant underground natural gas storage field, thefirst wells for which are being drilled beginning this week about50 miles north of Sacramento in a depleted dry gas field in ruralnorthern California.

CPUC Allows PG&E Plant Sale to Proceed
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. is moving ahead with the sale offive additional power plants, following the California PublicUtilities Commission’s decision this week to lift a temporary haltto the plant auction in response to an appeal by local governmentofficials and a citizens’ action group in San Francisco where twoof the plants are located. April Futures Follow March Cash Prices Lower
The April Nymex contract got off to a fast start Thursday byopening at $2.32 and quickly moving to $2.34. However, strongtechnical selling kicked in at that point, so much so that Aprilslid back to settle the day down 3.4 cents at $2.284.
