The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has scheduled another competitive oil and gas lease sale for land in Ohio’s Wayne National Forest, a month after it leased about 682 acres there for roughly $1.7 million in a controversial auction.

A petition filed by more than 92,000 people in mid-November with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and an administrative appeal filed by environmental groups to stop an oil and gas lease sale in Ohio’s Wayne National Forest (WNF) could impact a scheduled Dec. 13 auction, an official said.

To give the growing Permian Basin its full focus, Laredo Petroleum Holdings Inc. has agreed to sell all of its Granite Wash properties in the Anadarko Basin to affiliates of EnerVest Ltd. for $438 million in cash.

EnerVest Ltd., the second biggest leaseholder in Ohio’s Utica Shale, plans to sell the majority of its property in several packages in hopes of fetching $6 billion or more.

DTE Energy, Enbridge Inc. and Spectra Energy Corp. have agreed to develop the NEXUS Gas Transmission (NGT) system to move growing supplies of Ohio Utica shale gas to markets in the U.S. Midwest, including Ohio, Michigan, and Ontario, Canada.

FERC has approved Cadeville Gas Storage LLC’s application to build a planned gas storage facility in Ouachita Parish, LA, approximately 10 miles southwest of Monroe.

Caledonia Energy Partners LLC has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for authorization to raise the maximum storage capacity at its facility in Lowndes and Monroe counties, MS, to 28.1 Bcf from 22.7 Bcf. Working gas capacity would increase to 22 Bcf from 16.9 Bcf. The maximum daily withdrawal rate would be 550 MMcf/d, and the maximum injection rate would be 558 MMcf/d. Caledonia Energy said it would not have to construct any additional facilities to make the additional capacity available.
