PJM Interconnection’s market monitoring unit (MMU) has supplied staff at FERC with information related to the recent market activity of a PJM market participant after a request for such information was submitted to the grid operator by FERC’s Division of Energy Market Oversight (DEMO).

Within hours of the Senate voting out Democrat-crafted broad energy legislation late Thursday, Republican leaders vowed to make significant changes to tailor the bill to fit their views on energy issues, while Democrats warned they may filibuster a bill that emerges from conference committee radically altered.

PJM Interconnection’s market monitoring unit (MMU) is taking a closer look at a series of events that took place earlier this month involving a power trading practice that churned loop flows higher by more than 3,000 MW and increased prices after a gulf emerged between contract and actual power flows at the grid operator’s interfaces with American Electric Power (AEP) and Dominion Virginia Power.

After advising on its bulletin board Monday that it wasmonitoring conditions for the necessity of an OFO, Florida GasTransmission issued an Overage Alert Day notice Tuesday due to highmarket-area demand. The notice applies to the system east ofStation 12 (Santa Rosa County in the Florida Panhandle) and carriesa 4% tolerance for negative daily imbalances. The pipeline willdecide this morning whether to extend the notice through today’sgas day.
