Nymex to Decide on Selling Stake in Exchange or IPO by Month’s End
In a letter to exchange members, equity owners and staff Wednesday, Nymex Holdings Chairman Mitchell Steinhause said the exchange board has received proposals from two private investment groups and will make a decision before the end of the month on whether to accept their proposals, move directly to an initial public offering (IPO) or take some other strategic alternative.

Northern Natural Gas declared a force majeure situation Friday on its 24-inch Mitchell to Spraberry line. The pipeline said it was evaluating the situation and that receipts into the line must be allocated and/or curtailed, but gave no further details in the bulletin board posting.

Northern Natural Gas declared a force majeure after discoveringa leak in its 20-inch Plymouth to Mitchell line in the PermianBasin area of West Texas. Teams isolated the leak, NNG saidWednesday, and the approximate downtime was expected to be twodays. Flow was scheduled to zero at the Shell Tippett, Burlington,Marathon Yates and Southern Union receipt points.
