Louisiana Plans Observational Well Near Sinkhole

Goodrich Petroleum Corp. Wednesday confirmed that a recently drilled well in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS) of Louisiana and Mississippi had an initial flow rate exceeding 1,000 boe/d.
Trio to Construct Crude Oil Pipeline to Cushing
To deal with growing midstream activity in western Oklahoma and the emerging Mississippi Lime, SemGroup Corp., Gavilon Midstream Energy LLC and an affiliate of Chesapeake Energy Corp. plan to construct a 210-mile crude oil pipeline to carry supplies to a 1 million bbl storage facility in Cushing, OK.

The Marcellus Shale is the “best gas play” in the United States and at current price levels, “the only basin where dry gas should be drilled,” analysts with Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. (TPH) advised in a new report.

SemGroup Corp. and Exterran Holdings Inc. are developing a gas processing plant for SemGas LP to service growing midstream services demand in the Mississippi play. SemGas has agreed to buy the new gas processing plant and associated compression equipment. It is expected that the plant will be designed and fabricated by Exterran to handle a throughput of 60 MMcf/d and will feature cryogenic technology for natural gas liquid extraction and enhanced ethane recovery. Exterran offers pre-engineered processing plants in quantities of 60, 150 and 200 MMcf/d nominal capacity.
U.S. Forest Service Halts Drilling Rights Auction in Ohio
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) has withdrawn more than 3,300 acres of public land in southeast Ohio from a federal oil and natural gas lease sale scheduled for Dec. 7, pending a study on the possible effects hydraulic fracturing (fracking) could have on the state’s only national forest.

Saying its system was operating at high inventories and its two storage fields (Bear Creek in northwest Louisiana and Muldon in Mississippi) are at maximum injection capability, Southern implemented an OFO Type 6 for long imbalances Thursday until further notice. The pipeline said it was highly likely that the OFO would continue through Friday, but a further extension for Saturday was “too close to call.”
