Mississippi Canyon – formerly Shell Gas Pipeline -operates a 45-mile dual-phase line from the West Delta Block 143″A” platform on the Outer Continental Shelf offshore Louisiana toterminus near the Venice Gas Plant in Plaquemines Parish onshore inLouisiana. The capacity increase is to come from establishingmaximum receipt and delivery point pressures and installation ofadditional metering facilities on the pipeline’s existing system atthe Venice plant delivery point.

Fort Union Gathering Moves Ahead

CMS Gas Transmission and Storage Co. said the Fort Union GasGathering partnership has secured all of the rights-of-waynecessary to construct its planned 106-mile natural gas gatheringsystem in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. CMS is the managingmember in the partnership, which also includes Enron Capital &ampTrade Resources Corp., Western Gas Resources and CIG Resources Co.

WIC Targets Coal-bed Gas With Medicine Bow

The Coastal Corp.’s Wyoming Interstate Co. (WIC) filed anapplication with the FERC for construction of the Medicine BowLateral, a new 134-mile, 24-inch diameter gas pipeline designed toprovide transportation access to the developing Powder River Basinin Wyoming and Montana. Medicine Bow will receive Powder Rivercoal-bed methane gas from pipelines near Glenrock, WY, andtransport it to WIC’s mainline, west of Cheyenne, WY.

Viking Proposes Series of Expansions

Viking Gas Transmission last week proposed plans for a 45-mile,28 MMcf/d looping of its existing system in northwestern andcentral Minnesota in 1999. This is “a smaller project matched tomeet incremental market demand,” said Viking Gas President GregoryH. Palmer, but he noted it’s the first of a series of expansionsthe pipeline plans to carry out over the next couple of years.
