ConocoPhillips, Devon Delay Announcing Spending Plans Until January

Citing “uncertainties” in the marketplace ConocoPhillips and Devon Energy Corp. both have announced in the last two days that they will be putting off revealing 2009 capital spending plans until the new year. Both companies have previously announced their budget and spending plans in December for the following year.

ICE’s Record Quarterly Income Almost Triples 1Q2006 Results

Electronic energy marketplace and soft commodity exchange IntercontinentalExchange Inc. (ICE) said Wednesday it posted record quarterly consolidated net income for 1Q2007 due to strong volume at ICE Futures, the company’s UK futures business segment; at the Board of Trade of the City of New York Inc. (NYBOT), ICE’s U.S. futures business segment; in ICE’s global over-the-counter (OTC) business segment; and in the company’s market data business segment, which now includes the NYBOT market data business. The company nearly tripled its net income to $55.6 million for 1Q2007, an increase in quarterly earnings of 183% compared to $19.7 million in net income recorded for 1Q2006.

ICE Continues to Grow; Posts Record Volumes, Commissions in August

During a month that saw high volatility, Atlanta-based IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) reported record activity on its online marketplace during the month of August. Average daily volume (ADV) for ICE futures, its London-based regulated futures subsidiary, totaled 406,037 contracts for an eighth consecutive monthly record, an increase of 115.1% over August 2005’s 188,757 contracts.

Electronic energy marketplace IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) said Friday that ICE Futures, its regulated futures subsidiary, achieved an exchange-wide daily volume record on Thursday. The Atlanta-based company reported that total volume in ICE Futures markets reached 430,939 contracts, surpassing the April 25 record of 407,303 contracts by 5.8%. Total open interest stood at 948,239 contracts, up 46.2% compared to 648,585 contracts at December 31, 2005. ICE Futures, which is the home of the benchmark Brent Crude futures contract, introduced the fully electronic WTI Crude futures contract in February of this year.
