The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) on Thursday said Sunoco Pipeline LP’s Mariner East (ME) 1 could restart natural gas liquids (NGL) service after it was suspended again last month, but commissioners upheld a stay on construction of the ME 2 and 2X projects until they have more information.

State Sen. Andrew Dinniman has asked the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to post all public comments to the official online docket as his case against Sunoco Pipeline LP, which has stopped service on Mariner East (ME) 1 and some construction on ME 2 and 2X, advances.

Pennsylvania regulators have once again halted Mariner East (ME) 1 operations just weeks after a similar suspension was lifted, this time granting an emergency order that lays out a laundry list of requirements that Energy Transfer Partners LP subsidiary Sunoco Pipeline must meet before natural gas liquids (NGL) can resume moving on the system.

Ethane and propane transport on the Energy Transfer Partners LP (ETP) Mariner East (ME) 1 pipeline remains suspended more than a month after Pennsylvania regulators ordered a halt to operations because of sinkholes, with little clarity on exactly when service will resume.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) last week issued three more violation notices to Sunoco Pipeline LP related to spills during horizontal directional drilling (HDD) for the Mariner East 2 (ME2) pipeline project at separate locations in Blair and Lebanon counties.
