FERC has given Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC (Transco) permission to construct two sections of looping pipeline in north central Pennsylvania and allow the company to use three adjacent contractor yards for its $3 billion, 198-mile Atlantic Sunrise natural gas pipeline project serving the Marcellus Shale region.

FERC said Eastern Shore Natural Gas Co.’s proposed expansion of pipeline facilities in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania poses no threat to the environment, advancing the company’s plans to provide an additional 61,162 Dth/d of additional firm transportation service.

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC’s (Transco) Leidy Southeast Expansion project continued to move forward with FERC’s authorization to commence service on the Pleasant Run Loop Friday.

FERC Thursday approved Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s (TGP) request to place into service the first of five looping components on its system, which would add 636,000 Dth/d of takeaway capacity from the Marcellus Shale, to markets in the Northeast.

FERC Wednesday approved Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line’s (Transco) request to place into service the third and final pipeline loop of its major Northeast Supply Link project, and to begin partial service for project shippers to transport Marcellus Shale gas to growing markets in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

Cameron Interstate Pipeline LLC, a subsidiary of San Diego-based Sempra Energy, has filed an application to loop a 21-mile segment of its pipeline system in Hackberry, LA with a 42-inch pipe, to accommodate natural gas exports.

The City of Morgantown, WV, and Northeast Natural Energy (NNE) appear to be on a collision course, with the city preparing to pass an ordinance Tuesday night that would ban hydraulic fracturing (hydrofracking), and the company in turn vowing to sue the city if it tries to interfere with its two wells.

Elected officials from Monongalia County, WV, will meet their counterparts from the cities of Morgantown and Westover for a work session Wednesday to discuss Morgantown’s proposed ban on hydraulic fracturing (hydrofracking).

Chief Gathering LLC, a subsidiary of Chief Oil & Gas, has been fined $34,000 and has agreed to surrender a discharge permit for operations in four counties in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale area after “illegally discharging hydrostatic testing water at a pipeline project” in Lycoming County, PA, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) said.
