A Tale Of Two Markets; Cash Gains and Futures Ease

Overall average physical gas prices rose on average less than 3 cents Monday, but an increase in loads at Northeast points and restrictions at California locations pushed prices in those areas to double digit gains. July crude oil shed $1.40 to $82.70/bbl.

Expected late spring New England heating loads prompted higher quotes, but a strong screen placed a bullish tone to nearly all delivery points. Futures took much of their cue from longer term weather forecasts showing an axis of warm temperatures engulfing the Midwest and East.
