NorthernStar Appeals to Court on Oregon Land-Use Roadblock

The backers of the Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, NorthernStar Natural Gas Corp., filed Thursday in the Oregon Court of Appeals, challenging a decision earlier in April by the Oregon Land-Use Board of Appeals (LUBA). NorthernStar is concerned about two issues that were remanded back to the local county commission where it is seeking to develop its LNG receiving facility.

Oregon LNG Project Gets Local Staff OK

Clatsop County staff signed off Thursday on a number of local conditions imposed on the NorthernStar Natural Gas Corp. Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal along the Oregon side of the Columbia River. The county commission is expected to take up the issue in six to eight weeks, a Bradwood spokesperson told NGI Thursday.

A crucial water quality permit being sought by NorthernStar Natural Gas Corp. for its proposed Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility along the Columbia River in Oregon was thrust into doubt by a Feb. 17 letter from the state director of the Environmental Quality (EQ) Department, alleging that an essential evaluation had not been properly completed by the LNG terminal backers. EQ Director Dick Petersen has suggested Bradwood withdraw and then resubmit its application to ovoid a denial.

Bradwood LNG Wins in Appeals Court

Oregon’s Court of Appeals Wednesday dismissed a challenge by opponents of NorthernStar Natural Gas Corp.’s Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) project along the Columbia River. Opponents recently appealed the state Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) decision that basically supported the projects.

Oregon County’s LNG Vote Will Not Impact Project

A county ballot referendum on land-use conditional permits that was backed by opponents of the proposed Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal along the Oregon side of the Columbia River was passed by voters Tuesday (68-32%), but both opponents and supporters of the LNG project agreed that the vote will have no impact on the ongoing permitting process for the nearly $1 billion project.

NorthernStar Oregon LNG Project Gives FERC Biological Study

The backers of the Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) project along the Oregon side of the Columbia River filed a 3,700-page biological assessment of its site, including a salmon-saving program, on Wednesday with FERC. NorthernStar Natural Gas described the document as a key to getting the final federal environmental assessment on its proposed 1 Bcf/d receiving terminal and related pipeline.
