Natural Gas Powers Nearly All of Los Angeles Buses

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LAMTA), the largest public transportation system in car-laden Southern California, is operating the nation’s largest natural gas-powered bus fleet, and Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. said Tuesday it has signed a contract to upgrade four of LAMTA’s fueling stations.

RI Bill May Throw Another Monkey-Wrench in Plans for Weaver’s Cove Terminal

A House committee of the Rhode Island Legislature voted out a bill Wednesday that “essentially would make it impossible” for tankers laden with liquefied natural gas (LNG) to navigate the Narragansett Bay and Sakonnet River on their way to the proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG import terminal in Fall River, MA, a spokeswoman for the bill’s sponsor said.

CAISO Provides More Analysis on Western Price Manipulation

Laden with caveats and limited to an 18-month period between 2000 and mid-2001, a third report on energy market manipulation was presented to FERC last week by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). The 28-page report, “Supplemental Analysis of Trading and Scheduling Strategies Described in Enron (December 2000) Memos,” details schemes ranging from “Fat Boy” to “Ricochet” with everything in between.
