States Can Handle Fracking Rules, Wyoming Governor Mead Says

Wyoming and other states are being proactive in ensuring safety and environmental compliance in the energy production ongoing in their jurisdictions, including the use of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) in the shale gas production areas, Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead reiterated Wednesday at a news conference in which he answered questions related to a letter he and 16 other Republican governors sent earlier in the month to President Obama.

CFTC’s Chilton Says FERC Flexed Its EPAct Authority ‘Too Soon’

The jurisdictions of FERC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) clashed when the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) decided to take its newfound authority under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct) out for a “little jurisdictional test drive” in the case accusing failed hedge fund Amaranth Advisors LLC of manipulation of natural gas prices, said CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton last week.
