Energy, Pipeline Credit Ratings Trend Up in 2Q, S&P Says

Only one energy company, Empire District Electric Co. of Joplin, MO, had its credit ratings downgraded during the last quarter, while three other major energy companies were upgraded, Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services (S&P) said Monday in a second quarter report. The ratings firm called it the “strongest surge” in years.

Williams Powers Up Service to Expanded State Line Plant

The newly expanded State Line Power Plant near Joplin, MO got a boost to its service last week, as a unit of Williams began natural gas transportation service on Friday to the plant. Williams recently completed a $19.7 million expansion of its Central pipeline system, adding 37 miles of 20-inch pipeline and an increased pressure rating of 16-inch line to nearby Oklahoma.
