Roan Resources Inc. has redesigned its 2019 drilling plans for the stacked plays within the Anadarko Basin after four wells targeting the Woodford Shale were impacted last year by well interference issues with the Mayes Shale.

The Williams Companies Inc. (WMB) is suing would-be merger partner Energy Transfer Equity LP (ETE) and ETE CEO Kelcy Warren over a recent private offering of ETE units and alleged interference with the merger plan by Warren.

The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) ended three days of hearings in Denver Wednesday as it drew closer to finalizing new setback requirements for oil and natural gas wells, but it still fell short of finishing the unpopular and complex task.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) received more than 4,100 comments on its proposed standards to reduce air pollution from oil and natural gas drilling operations, especially operations employing hydraulic fracturing (fracking), by the time the public comment period closed Wednesday.

Industry experts told members of Congress that shale gas should be regulated by the states without interference from the federal government, while the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tried to clarify its plan to develop national pretreatment standards for wastewater.

Adding to a busy week for the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) that included new product offerings (see Daily GPI, Dec. 21) and accusations of merger interference (see Daily GPI, Dec. 22), as well as grumblings surrounding its scaled-down 2007 holiday schedule (see Daily GPI, Dec.21), the exchange reported Thursday that it will launch its first energy index futures contract, 3-2-1 Plus as part of the Nymex iPort suite of index futures contracts beginning on Jan. 21 for trade date Jan. 22.
