Enterprise Takes Stake in Energy Transfer’s Interstate Pipe Business

Enterprise GP Holdings LP late Monday made good on its intentions to enter the interstate pipeline market after announcing two separate transactions that give it a minority stake in Energy Transfer Equity LP and TEPPCO Partners LP. The transactions, which together are worth an estimated $2.8 billion, are expected to increase Enterprise’s distributable cash flow per unit in 2008 by more than 10%.

Futures Explore Wide 37-Cent Range Before Settling Near Unchanged

After starting Monday with what appeared to be $9 intentions, September natural gas futures did a 180-degree turn just after noon EDT, plunging 37 cents from its $8.87 high to record an $8.50 trade. However, that level set off the buy alarm as the prompt month climbed back up to settle at $8.684, down 1.6 cents for the day.

Two weeks after announcing its intentions to acquire the remaining shares of Pure Resources Inc., El Segundo, CA-based Unocal Corp. on Thursday said it has commenced the exchange offer to shareholders of Pure (see Daily GPI, Aug. 21). Under the offer, Unocal said it is seeking the 35% of outstanding common stock in the company that it does not already own.
