CPUC Asks California Utility to Allow Smart Meter Opt-Outs

Following customer complaints of health problems, California regulators on Thursday asked Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) to allow its customers to opt-out of the ongoing effort to install smart natural gas and electric meters. Some customers have alleged that radio frequencies used by the meters are causing a wide range of ailments.

ConocoPhillips has agreed to install pollution control equipment and implement other emission-reduction practices to reduce harmful emissions and conserve natural gas at its Argenta and Sunnyside compressor stations on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation in the San Juan Basin near Ignacio, CO, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said. Under a settlement agreement with EPA, ConocoPhillips agreed to pay $175,000 in civil penalties. According to a complaint filed with the settlement, the producer allegedly violated provisions of its air emissions permit under Title V of the Clean Air Act. EPA said ConocoPhillips had cooperated in resolving the violations.

FERC OKs Tetco’s TIME II Project in Ohio, Pennsylvania

FERC has issued a certificate for Texas Eastern Transmission LP’s (Tetco) proposal to install new natural gas pipeline and compression facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and abandon and replace existing pipeline facilities in the two states to provide up to 150,000 Dth/d of new transportation service to the New Jersey market area.
