During hightemperatures and heavy humidity in central and easternPennsylvania, PP&L delivered 6,128,000 kWh of electricity tocustomers between 1 and 2 p.m. Monday. The company’s formersummertime record of 6,046,000 kWh was set July 15, 1997. PP&Lsaid it was able to set the delivery record without anyinterruption or curtailment of service to customers. In otherregional power news the New England Independent System Operatorcanceled a power warning that had been set through last night andsaid customers could resume normal power usage.
Transportation Note
After beginning last week in the middle of a three-dayhigh-inventory OFO (see Daily GPI, June 22), Pacific Gas &Electric declared another one for Saturday after previously sayingit expected system linepack to remain well above the utility’starget through the weekend. The new order carried a positiveimbalance tolerance of 11% and penalties of $1/dth fornon-compliance.
Transportation Notes
A high-inventory Stage 1 OFO implemented Sunday by Pacific Gas& Electric was continued through Monday and today. Sunday’s 15%imbalance tolerance was reduced to 6% Monday, but the noncompliancepenalty remains at $1/dth. PG&E projected that its linepackinventory would continue to be 200 MMcf or more above the utility’starget through Thursday.
KN Holding Open Season for Horizon Project
KN Energy signed Nicor Gas of Illinois up for 300 MMcf/d ofcapacity on its Horizon Pipeline and began an open season for theproject.
KN Warns Investors Of Lower Earnings
KN Energy warned investors last week that warm temperatures,high storage levels, poor processing margins and reduced gastransportation throughput during the first quarter took a bite outof earnings and could continue to plague the company for the restof the year.

Enron Corp. has eliminated the last vestiges of its one-timehigh-profile venture into California’s residential electricitymarket by pulling out of its deal with the resort city of PalmSprings. Enron was the energy service provider for a citygovernment-established aggregation business, which had about 2,000mostly residential customers lured away from the local monopolyprovider, Southern California Edison.
