GulfTerra Energy Partners said its Phoenix Gas Pipeline has received initial gas flows from the Red Hawk Field in the Garden Banks area of the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Phoenix is a 78- mile, 18-inch diameter pipeline originating in 5,300 feet of water at the Red Hawk cell spar in Garden Banks Block 876. The pipeline interconnects with the ANR Pipeline system at Vermilion Block 397 and is capable of transporting up to 450 MMcf/d of gas. Red Hawk is operated by Kerr-McGee Oil and Gas Corp. and owned by Kerr-McGee and Devon Energy. The Red Hawk cell spar has an initial capacity of 120 MMcf/d and can be expanded to a production capacity of 300 MMcf/d (see Daily GPI, July 20).

Houston-based Enterprise Products Partners LP and GulfTerra Energy Partners LP have scheduled a special meeting of their common unitholders on July 29 to vote on the approval of a merger between the two partnerships. The two announced their merger late last year, which, when approved, will form the second largest publicly traded energy partnership in the United States (see Daily GPI, Dec. 16, 2003). The new partnership will be worth about $13 billion, with the jointly owned affiliates of Enterprise and El Paso Corp. each owning a 50% stake. Enterprise’s registration statement on Form S-4, including the joint proxy statement/prospectus for the special meeting, was declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the proxy statement was to be mailed to the unitholders of both companies.

Transportation Notes

The third-party maintenance work scheduled for April 14-16 at the Gulfterra-Thompsonville receipt point in Jim Hogg County, TX (see Daily GPI, April 13) was postponed until further notice, NGPL said. Therefore, it was accepting intraday nominations at the point Wednesday.

Houston-based Petal Gas Storage, a unit of GulfTerra Energy Partners LP, announced last week it will hold a binding open season for up to 300,000 MMBtu of firm natural gas storage capacity for a one-year term beginning April 1 of this year.
