DukeSolutions is hauling in eight independent power facilitiesfor $81 million from Houston-based Waste Management Inc., and hasplans to invest another $20 million into the cogeneration andrenewable energy facilities in California, Pennsylvania, Maine andFlorida. Alberta Energy Co. Ltd. became more U.S. than Canadian produceryesterday by grabbing a major foothold in the Rocky Mountainregion. The company is buying all the common shares of McMurry Oil,which owns 1.2 Tcf of gas reserves and significant explorationacreage in the Jonah Field in the Green River Basin in southwesternWyoming. It also is purchasing the 245-mile Jonah Field gasgathering system, which currently transports 320 MMcf/d of gas andis primed for an expansion to 440 MMcf/d. The transactions werevalued at a total of C$1.15 billion.

Kerr-McGee Corp. has bought a 50% stake in four explorationlicenses covering 1.5 million acres offshore Nova Scotia, Canada,from Canadian 88 Energy Corp. for $10.5 million. The deepwaterexploration prospects are located 125 miles south of Halifax inwater depths from 500 to 9,200 feet.

The birth of a New England power plant will spawn more importsof LNG to the United States. Last week it was announced that SitheEnergies Inc. will feed its 1,600 MW Mystic Station in Everett, MA,with LNG imported by nearby Cabot LNG Corp.
