Golden Pass Products LLC (GPP) has been approved to export up to 2.21 Bcf/d of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to non-free trade agreement (FTA) countries, bringing to 19.2 Bcf/d the total of non-FTA exports authorized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

FERC on Wednesday authorized the addition of liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction and export facilities, as well as related pipeline modifications, at the existing Golden Pass Products LLC import terminal near Sabine Pass, TX.

The project would entail expansion of an existing LNG import terminal to add liquefaction and export capability and construction of a short natural gas pipeline.

Fairbanks, AK-based electric cooperative Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) has signed a natural gas supply contract with BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. for up to 23 Bcf of gas per year for 20 years. The deal would meet its power generation needs and eventually allow for gas deliveries — via liquefied natural gas (LNG) — to Interior Alaska, the cooperative said.
