Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) ended Saturday an Overage Alert Day that had been in effect for the previous three days. On Sunday the pipeline shifted gears and cautioned market-area customers that with rainy weather forecasted in Florida and FGT’s linepack being “very high,” they should be alert for the possibility of an Underage Alert Day being issued.

Southern California Gas took the #1 compressor at its North Needles Station off-line Wednesday to repair broken gears and the case on the unit’s air starter. The work is causing a loss of 150 MMcf/d of border receipt capacity at Needles until further notice.
PNM Resources Gears Up for Debt, Equity Sales
Indicative of its current push to acquire new assets and expand its reach in the Southwest, PNM Resources, the holding company for Public Service Company of New Mexico, on Thursday increased it financing capacity to $1 billion with a so-called “shelf registration” statement to the federal Securities and Exchange Commission. The latest registration was for an added $500 million.
Enbridge Gears Up to Build Large East Texas Pipeline
Enbridge Energy Partners said it has purchased the right of way and awarded the pipeline contract for a new 107-mile, 36-inch diameter East Texas expansion project that is scheduled to be built starting this fall.
Idaho PUC Gears Up for Two Rate Increase Cases in March
Major rate requests from Spokane, WA-based Avista Corp.’s natural gas/electric utility operations in the state and Idaho Power Co. are scheduled to kick off this month for the Idaho Public Utilities Commission in the mid part of the month. In the meantime, the state regulators last Thursday denied Avista’s request for a March 10 effective date for its proposed hikes of 24.1% for power and 9.2% for natural gas.
MMS Points to OCS as Near-Term Supply Solution
As North America gears up for winter with natural gas prices already registering higher than normal for this time of year, the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS) said Monday that it believes that offshore natural gas may be a near-term solution for the current volatility. The government agency added that Americans — stung by high natural gas prices — may be in for a bumpy ride this winter.
Anadarko Shifts Gears From Exploration to Development
Switching its focus slightly from exploration to development drilling, Anadarko Petroleum Corp. said last week that 2003 and 2004 are going to be exciting times for the company as past exploration efforts finally come to fruition. Holding an all-day webcast for analysts Thursday, the company said that in addition to shifting focus to the development side of the business, the company also is realigning resources to concentrate on its U.S. onshore plays.
