El Paso Corp. subsidiary El Paso Field Services said last Tuesday it sold 18 gathering systems in Wyoming to a Denver, CO-based gatherer and marketer, Western Gas Resources Inc., for an estimated $37 million. El Paso reported its net proceeds from the deal were $35 million.

In a blistering attack on another energy company last Wednesday, Apache Corp. Chairman Raymond Plank called The Williams Companies an “Enron Clone” that used monopoly power to manipulate Gulf Coast gathering rates levied on producers. Apache lambasted Williams for continuing to fight a judge’s ruling that its gathering spindown led to unjust transportation charges on Apache, Shell and other producers.

Enogex Inc. completed its acquisition of Transok LLC, a gatherer,processor and transporter of natural gas in Oklahoma andTexas. Enogex, a subsidiary of OGE Energy Corp., announced plans May17 to buy Transok from Houston-based Tejas Gas LLC, an affiliate ofShell Oil Co. for $701 million (See Daily GPI May 18, 1999).
