Remington Shareholders to Vote on Helix Acquisition

Dallas-based Remington Oil and Gas Corp. has set a special shareholders meeting for June 29 to approve the merger and acquisition by Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc. Helix, formerly Cal Dive International, agreed earlier this year to pay $27 in cash and provide Remington shareholders 0.436 shares of Helix for each Remington share (see Daily GPI, Jan. 24).

Rockies Express Gets Additional Year to Complete Phase One

FERC on Thursday granted Rockies Express Pipeline LLC, formerly Entrega Gas Pipeline LLC, more time to complete work on Phase I of a 327-mile pipeline system that would tie in with the rest of the mammoth Rockies Express pipeline in northern Colorado. The company is a joint venture of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP and Sempra Pipelines & Storage, co-sponsors of the Rockies Express pipeline.

Former Allegheny Energy Trader Sentenced to Prison, Fined $100,000

Daniel Gordon, 29, who formerly headed energy trading for Merrill Lynch & Co. and then Allegheny Energy, on Friday was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for embezzling $43 million from the investment banker.

Eyeing Canadian Oilsands Growth, Kinder Morgan Buys Terasen for $5.6B

With its sights on Canadian oilsands growth and a stable utility business, Kinder Morgan Inc. (KMI) announced an agreement Monday to buy Terasen Inc., formerly BC Gas, for US$5.6 billion (C$6.9 billion) including debt. The per share value of the purchase is about C$35.91/Terasen share, which represents a 20% premium to the most recent 20-day average and a 14% premium to Monday’s closing price on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
