Gas Rates Increase for Puget Sound Energy

Puget Sound Energy’s (PSE) retail rates for natural gas will increase Wednesday, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) forewarned PSE utility customers Monday. The state regulators earlier approved an 11.1% rate increase, following the utility’s filing of a purchased gas adjustment (PGA) request (see Daily GPI, Sept. 2).

PG&E’s Natural Gas Costs Up; December Retail 5% Higher

Citing an increase in its wholesale natural gas prices, San Francisco-based Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) last Monday forewarned customers that winter gas bills are headed upward with the December retail bills estimated to be 5% higher than the same month last year.

UniSource Seeks Natural Gas Rate Hike in AZ

Earlier in July as power demand and prices began to peak, Tucson, AZ-based UniSource Energy Services (UES) forewarned its natural gas customers in the northern part of Arizona about the likelihood of higher gas utility bills this winter. Per-therm gas costs could rise to $1.32 in November, drop back and then rise again to about $1.37/th in March of next year, UES announced.
