El Paso, Enron Terminate $38 Million Mega-Deal

In a stunning announcement late yesterday, El Paso Natural Gassaid it had reached a “mutual agreement” with Enron North AmericaCorp. to terminate the $38 million negotiated mega-deal for 1.2Bcf/d of capacity that the marketer had entered into in December.The negotiated arrangement covers three separate capacityagreements.

Columbia Hits Whopper Deep Appalachian Find

Calling it the largest reserve discovery in the AppalachianBasin, Columbia Natural Resources (CNR), a Columbia Energy Groupsubsidiary, said it found reserves with estimated production of 50MMcf/d while drilling deep into a sub-basin in Roane County, WV.The exploratory test well was drilled to a depth of 10,300 feet inthe Trenton-Black River Formation on the Vineyard Ridge prospect.
