Energy Search Inc. has finalized an agreement with SouthernProducer Services LP, a subsidiary of Southern Energy Inc., toextend the funding of its capital expenditure program for 2001. Aspart of the agreement, Southern pre-approved 60 wells to be funded.Energy Search, based in Knoxville, TN, plans to drill 75 wells nextyear for about $11.5 million, primarily natural gas reserves in theAppalachian Basin. Energy Search CEO Charles P. Torrey said theagreement with Southern allows the company to “expand and expediteour aggressive drilling program.” He added that Southern had been”vital” to the company’s drilling schedule, and said he consideredSouthern’s commitment “a validation of our business developmentplan for the coming year.”

Dynegy Deals East Texas Midstream Assets
In the same week that plans for the creation of its largest competitor were finalized (see story this issue), Dynegy Midstream Services LP announced definitive agreements to sell certain East Texas gathering, treating and processing facilities to an independent midstream processing company. The closing of the sale is expected to occur prior to year-end. Neither the identity of the buyer nor the sale price was disclosed.
Peachtree Still Not Out Of Georgia Woods
Although the sale of its customers to Shell Energy Services wasfinalized last week, Peachtree Natural Gas is not clear of problemsyet. The Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) told NGI it isinvestigating slamming charges against the embattled marketer. GPSCCommissioner Bobby Baker said a slamming investigation is currentlyunder way and that anywhere from several hundred to severalthousand gas customers could be affected. There is no timeframe forthe conclusion of the investigation.
