Georgia Strait Crossing Pipeline Ltd. filed a preliminaryenvironmental scoping submission with Canada’s National EnergyBoard to build and operate its planned gas pipeline to VancouverIsland. The company expects to file an application with the NEBthis fall.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is looking forvolunteers for a pilot project for electronic filing of documentsin Commission proceedings over the Internet beginning Oct. 1, 1999.The pilot will test FERC’s computer systems and be limited tomotions and notices to intervene, protests, comments and relatedfilings. Participants must still file paper copies during thetesting period.

Two would go by sea, and now one would travel on land, makingfor three brand new pipeline projects targeting the Floridapeninsula and the state’s substantial growth in power generationgas demand.

In a lengthy filing at FERC earlier this week, Amoco Productionand Amoco Energy Trading registered their strong support for thecontroversial auction of capacity in both the short-term andlong-term transportation markets.

Enron Corp. made an SC13D filing with the Securities andExchange Commission on Tuesday to inform the commission it hasreceived an unsolicited offer for its 53.5% share of Enron Oil andGas, one of the largest independent gas producers in the U.S.According to the solicitation, the unnamed third party wouldacquire Enron’s shares in EOG and make an offer for all theoutstanding shares. The third party also would require that Enrondispose of certain other assets.

IPL Energy and MCN Energy took the last major regulatory step inadvancing their 1 Bcf/d Vector Pipeline project this week by filingan application with Canada’s National Energy Board forauthorization to construct the 16-mile Ontario portion of the342-mile line. An application for the larger U.S. portion was filedwith FERC in December.
