McMoRan Files Application for Offshore Louisiana LNG Terminal/Storage Project

McMoRan Exploration Co. subsidiary Freeport-McMoRan Energy LLC has filed a license application with the Coast Guard for a proposed offshore Louisiana liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and gas storage project and filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a 5 mile, 1.5 Bcf/d gas pipeline.

Mirant Files Reorganization, Expects to Emerge from Bankruptcy by Mid-Year

Independent power producer Mirant Corp. filed its bankruptcy reorganization plan last Wednesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth division with the expectation of emerging from bankruptcy by mid year. The plan calls for more than $5 billion in debt and $1 billion in other claims to be converted into equity.

ConocoPhillips Files Another Offshore Gulf LNG Terminal

Despite about 50 Bcf/d of LNG import capacity planned in North America, new projects continue to be announced at a rapid clip. ConocoPhillips last week submitted plans to the U.S. Coast Guard for construction of the Beacon Port Clean Energy Terminal in the federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico about 56 miles south of Louisiana. It will be the fourth LNG project in which ConocoPhillips has invested.

Questar Files 8-K Report to Reflect FERC’s Order of Refunds

Questar Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of Questar Corp., last Wednesday filed an 8-K report with the Securities and Exchange Commission to reflect a FERC order that it refund $3.8 million to transmission customers.
