Williams Proceeds with MarketLink Project

Williams’ Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) bought $119 million worth of pipe and compressor facilities for the MarketLink expansion Wednesday despite the project’s lack of final approval from FERC. Construction is scheduled to begin when MarketLink clears all its regulatory hurdles in the late spring or early summer of next year.

The Energy Information Administration reported that 47 Bcf ofworking gas in Michigan storage facilities was reclassified as basegas in March, which means working gas levels at the end of thewinter heating season were 3% lower than first reported, or 1,430Bcf compared to 1,477.

TW Plans to Add 50 MMcf/d To San Juan Lateral

Transwestern Pipeline has filed an application with FERC tobuild a new 10,000 hp compressor station near Thoreau, NM, off ofits San Juan Lateral and to add facilities to its Bloomfield and LaPlata compressor stations. The $11.6 million project will providean additional 50 MMcf/d of firm transportation service on the SanJuan Lateral downstream of the Bloomfield compressor station andwill allow Transwestern to operate its mainline at its certificatedcapacity of 1.1 Bcf/d on a firm basis.

Transportation Notes

El Paso will shut down its Blanco (NM) Plant Monday forscheduled maintenance. Several other facilities on the San JuanCrossover and North Mainline also will have maintenance. Because atotal Blanco outage will last only half a day, the net reduction ofSan Juan Basin supply Monday will be 715 MMcf/d. Downtime of the Cand D units May 18-19 and of the D unit May 20-26 will causereductions of 500 MMcf/d and 270 MMcf/d respectively.

Western Unloads Non-Core East Texas Gathering, Producing Assets

Western Gas Resources said Friday it sold its Edgewood gasgathering system and related facilities to Dynegy Inc. for $6.1million, and sold production assets upstream of Edgewood and a 50%joint venture interest in Redman Smackover production project inEast Texas to Vintage Petroleum for $49.7 million. The proceedsfrom the two separate transactions total $55.8 million, and Westernsaid it expects to recognize a pre-tax gain of $1 million from thesales in the fourth quarter of 1998. Both transactions closed Oct.29 with effective dates of July 1, 1998 and Nov. 1, 1998,respectively.

Exxon Company U.S.A. will buy a coastal processing facility 25miles west of Santa Barbara from a Southern California Gas affiliate for an undisclosed amount, it was announced last week.The plant processes 60 MMcf/d of offshore California natural gasproduced by Exxon’s Platform Honda.
