AmerenCIPS Transfers 2,900 MW to Affiliate
AmerenCIPS transferred $600 million in power generationfacilities (2,900 MW) to a newly created nonregulated Ameren Corp.subsidiary, AmerenEnergy Generating Co. The generation holdings ofthe new unit are expected to balloon to 5,400 MW and $1.7 billionin book value by 2005, the company said, noting it is in theprocess of building another 2,500 MW.

Northwest Pipeline put shippers on notice last week that itplans to undertake a system enhancement program and will begintaking requests for a pipeline expansion project. The enhancementprogram, which will involve adding pipeline looping andcompression, is designed in part to resolve a supply displacementproblem stemming from an expiring contract.

Florida Power Issues RFP for 530 MW in 2003
In an attempt to decide between buying third-party capacity orbuilding the facilities to generate the capacity itself, FloridaPower Corp. issued an RFP yesterday, seeking bids from companiesinterested in generating 530 MW for the electric company beginningin Nov. 2003.
Transportation Notes
Sonat will be installing facilities today for tie-in of theSandy Hook Line to its system on the Franklinton-Gwinville lines inMississippi, which will require the shut-in of a total of 19 metersin the Hub, Sandy Hook and Dexter fields. The work is expected totake one day but may be extended if problems are encountered. Sonatalso reported beginning maintenance at the Muldon (MS) StorageField that will continue through Oct. 2. The pipeline declared aforce majeure in connection with the project but is not surewhether injection/withdrawal restrictions will be necessary for CSScustomers.
Transportation Notes
During Sept. 7-11 maintenance on its Topock (AZ) Lateral andrelated facilities, Transwestern expects no flows to either SoCalGas or PG&E at their Topock interconnects. However, thepipeline said it is investigating “limited alternative deliveryarrangements” for the two points. It will be able to schedule up to300,000 MMBtu/d at Mojave Pipeline’s Topock interconnect.
EnergySouth Plans Bay Gas Storage Expansion
EnergySouth Inc., a holding company for utility and storagecompanies in the Southeast, recently announced an expansion planfor the storage facilities of its subsidiary Bay Gas Storage Co.The plan calls for an additional salt cavern to be developed, whichwill increase the total working gas capacity of the site from 2.4Bcf to 6 Bcf. An open season will be held from July 15 until Aug.31 to help assess the final size and shape of the expansion.
