Global Effort Proposed for Onshore Gas, Oil Pipeline Corrosion

The kind of pipeline corrosion caused by microbes in the soil is a serious threat to onshore oil and natural gas systems and needs to be addressed by a global joint industry project, according to DNV GL, a global maritime and oil/gas safety consulting and accreditation organization.

D.C. Court Gives OK for MMS to Resume Web Site

The Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) began bringing up its external web site and e-mail systems in stages last Wednesday after a federal court in Washington, DC, gave the agency the green light to re-establish Internet connections and resume operations. The MMS said it expects to have its web page fully restored and updated by the first part of this week.

FERC took initial steps last Wednesday to set up a “specific division” within its Office of External Affairs (OEA) that would reach out to and work closely with states on pressing natural gas and electric regulatory issues.
