FERC OKs Most of CEGT’s Carthage-to-Perryville Pipe for Service
FERC has given the go-ahead for CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission (CEGT) to place into service the bulk of Phase 1 of its pipeline that extends from the Carthage Hub in East Texas to the Perryville Hub in northeast Louisiana. The start-up of most of the project comes within six months of CEGT receiving FERC approval last October (see NGI, Oct. 9, 2006). The pipe will provide a market outlet for burgeoning natural gas production in North-Central and East Texas and North Louisiana.

Husky Extends CBM Exploration Joint Venture with Trident
Calgary-based Husky Energy Inc., one of Canada’s largest integrated producers, better known for a portfolio of heavy oil prospects, last week announced a two-year extension of a farm-out and joint venture agreement with privately held Trident Exploration Corp. to develop natural gas from coal (NGC) and coalbed methane (CBM) in central Alberta. The agreement calls for another 120 wells to be drilled over the next two years in the Fenn Rumsey area.

Sempra Extends Open Season for Developing Louisiana Gas Storage Facility
A subsidiary of San Diego-based Sempra Energy has extended an open season through June 25 for its developing Pine Prairie salt dome natural gas storage project in Evangeline Parish, LA, which eventually is expected to have 11 pipeline interconnections. The deadline originally had been set for June 21.
