Iroquois Moves Forward with Expansion, Lateral Projects

After receiving expressions of interests this summer from potential shippers for more than 800,000 Dth/d of new firm transportation capacity on its mainline, Iroquois Gas Transmission said it will move forward with a much smaller expansion that will add about 100,000 Dth/d of new space downstream of its interconnect with Algonquin Gas Transmission.

El Paso Receives Preliminary Interest in 3 Bcf/d on Continental Connector Project

El Paso Corp. said it received preliminary expressions of interest in a recent open season for about 3 Bcf/d of firm transportation capacity on its proposed 1,000-mile Continental Connector pipeline project, which would connect El Paso’s Rocky Mountain region pipelines, including Colorado Interstate, Wyoming Interstate and Cheyenne Plains, with its three lines in the eastern half of the country, ANR Pipeline, Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Southern Natural Gas.

Sempra Energy Buys Enron Metals for $145 Million

Following through on expressions of interest in recent weeks, San Diego, CA-based Sempra Energy’s trading unit announced Tuesday it has purchased London, UK-based Enron Metals Ltd. for $145 million, subject to a final audit of the net assets. The deal for the leading metals trader on the London Metals Exchange (LME) is expected to be completed Monday (Feb. 4, 2002), Sempra said.

San Diego Putting Power Plants Up for Sale

San Diego Gas and Electric Co. is formally asking for nonbindingexpressions of interest for two fossil-fuel power plants and 17combustion turbines by Sept. 10 as the start of a sales plan forits generation assets for which it expects to gain stateregulators’ approval by that same time. Eventually, it expects tosell nearly 2,000 MW of generating capacity by the end of the year,according to a company spokesperson.

Crossroads, CNG Pipeline Project Draws Interest

Crossroads Pipeline Co., East Ohio Gas and CNG Transmission saidthey received expressions of interest for 800,000 Dth/d of capacityon their proposed transportation project, which would bring gasfrom the Chicago hub through Crossroads’ existing system to marketsin East Ohio’s service territory and farther east via CNG’spipeline system. The proposed project initially would add 150,000Dth/d of firm capacity across all three systems.
