GE Power Systems expanded its already-significant turbinemanufacturing force with yesterday’s announced purchase ofWeatherford Global Compression Services’ Gemini division. Financialterms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

CMS Marketing, Services and Trading (CMS-MST) expanded its Canadian presence last week as affiliate PremStar Energy Canada acquired ECNG Inc., an independent energy consulting firm, from El Paso Energy Marketing Canada Inc. for an undisclosed sum. PremStar worked together with a group of former executives from ECNG to acquire the firm.

El Paso’s planned maintenance at Alamo Lake Station was expandedto include a total station shutdown Wednesday. Alamo Lake No.1turbine will be down today and Tuesday, reducing Havasu Crossovercapacity by 100 MMcf/d. The No.2 turbine will also be downWednesday for a total Havasu cut of 150 MMcf/d. To coincide withthis outage and minimize impact on San Juan Basin supplies, theNavajo Station’s 2C turbine will be down for maintenance Wednesday,reducing North Mainline capacity by 155 MMcf/d.

Reliant Energy, formerly Houston Industries, expanded itsMidwest retail gas marketing business with the acquisition ofcertain assets of National Energy Management LLC and Koch MidstreamServices Co.’s Chicago operation. Together, these retail marketingbusinesses serve more than 2,200 accounts in the Chicago andsouthern Wisconsin areas and have annual revenues exceeding $65million.
