Sailboat Incident Prompts Tighter Security at Elba Island LNG Terminal

Security concerns at El Paso Corp.’s Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal on the coast of Georgia prompted the U.S. Coast Guard to establish a permanent security zone around the facility’s mooring slip. The Coast Guard’s decision follows an incident last June in which a sailboat entered the slip and anchored for six hours one day before the scheduled arrival of an LNG carrier.

Security concerns at El Paso Corp.’s Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal on the coast of Georgia prompted the U.S. Coast Guard to establish a permanent security zone around the facility’s mooring slip. California Nears End of Long-Term Gas Restructuring

With the state’s chief regulator weighing in, California is poised to establish final rules for natural gas transmission and storage in the state as the end of the second phase of a multi-year industry restructuring. After postponing the issue earlier this month, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is scheduled Sept. 21 to vote on the issue, which covers various bread-and-butter issues affecting the state’s vast transmission/storage system and its upcoming integration of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
