Canada’s increasing population, economic growth and increased use of electrical equipment will increase the demand for power nearly 40% in the next 20 years, according to a new report by the National Energy Board (NEB).

Transportation Notes
Transwestern will install equipment early next month along its San Juan Lateral from Ignacio, CO to the Blanco (NM) Hub and from Blanco to Thoreau, NM to ensure continued system reliability. The work will reduce lateral flow to zero in both segments April 3-7. Ignacio-Blanco will be restored to its normal 716,000 MMBtu/d on April 8, while Blanco-Thoreau will be raised to 800,000 MMBtu/d April 8-14 and restored to its normal 860,000 MMBtu/d April 15.

Private Investors Buy Bankrupt Avoca
Northeastern Gas Caverns LLC, a New York company, has purchasedall the salt cavern drilling rights, licenses and equipment ownedby the bankrupt Avoca Natural Gas Storage Co. for $8 million,promising to revive the project, once highly touted as the firsthigh-deliverability salt cavern storage in the Northeast. NGC alsohas agreed to assume a portion of Avoca’s secured debt.
