Baker Hughes Inc. is reporting positive results from a program to convert a fleet of its North American hydraulic fracturing (fracking) units to bifuel pumps that use a mix of natural gas and diesel, the oilfield services operator said Monday.

Independent petroleum engineering consultant Bob King has been named the interim supervisor of the WyomingOil and Gas Conservation Commission (OGCC) as the state searches for a permanent replacement for Tom Doll, who resigned effective July 2 (see Shale Daily, June 18). King, who has worked in the state’s oil and gas industry for 30 years, served in a similar capacity on an interim basis in 2008-2009, according to Gov. Matt Mead. “The OGCC has a critical role, and Bob’s experience will provide necessary leadership as we begin the search for a permanent supervisor,” Mead said. State law requires the supervisor position to be filled by a petroleum engineer or petroleum geologist.

XTO Energy Posts Record Reserves of 3.37 Tcfe
Based on an independent petroleum engineer review, XTO Energy Inc. said its estimated proved oil and gas reserves on the first of the year were a record 3.37 Tcfe, up 26% from the 2.68 Tcfe figure that the company posted at the beginning of last year.
Mackenzie Gas Project Takes Next Step, Hires Engineer
Taking the next logical step for the transportation of Canadian arctic natural gas, the Mackenzie Delta Producers Group, which consists of some of the heavy hitters within the oil and gas industry, said last Thursday that it has awarded the conceptual and preliminary engineering contract for the Mackenzie Gas Project to COLTKBR, a long-term joint venture of Colt Engineering Corp. and Kellogg Brown & Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton. The move brings the project a step closer to fruition and a step ahead of the competition in Alaska.
