Alaska House Gets O&G Tax Bill; Shell Proposes Marketing Gas
The Alaska Senate completed action Tuesday on its bill to reform state taxes on oil and natural gas, picking up two more affirmative votes on reconsideration for a 16-4 endorsement of a 22.5% net production tax on oil and 7.5%, or one-third of that, for natural gas. The bill has gone to the Finance Committee in the Alaska House and is expected to make it to the House floor by Monday.
EnCana, Entrega Sign MOUs to Support Rockies Express Gas Pipeline
In another strong endorsement, subsidiaries of EnCana Corp. and Entrega Gas Pipeline Inc. have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (KMP) and Sempra Pipelines & Storage’s 1,500 mile Rockies Express natural gas pipeline project. The pipeline, first proposed in August (see Daily GPI, Aug. 18), would be the largest domestic gas pipe proposal in more than 20 years, delivering growing gas supplies from the Rocky Mountains to upper Midwest and eastern U.S. markets.
New Hourly Pipe Service for Generators Approved
FERC yesterday gave its endorsement to a transmission rateschedule proposed by Reliant Energy Gas Transmission that willenable the company to meet the hourly peaking needs of powergenerators. With this action, Reliant becomes the first gaspipeline capable of providing such service.
