Enbridge Inc. said it has mobilized equipment to begin removing a section of 22-inch diameter natural gas pipeline that exploded over the weekend in Smith County, TN.

The Calgary gas and oil transportation conglomerate described the New Brunswick deal as part of continuing asset sales triggered by its C$37 billion (US$28 billion) takeover of Houston-based Spectra Energy in 2016.

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) has tentatively approved plans by Calgary-based Enbridge Energy Partners LP to replace a crude oil pipeline across the state’s northern tier.
