Correction

At the end of a report on natural gas vehicle (NGV) developments on Tuesday, “California Port City Runs on Renewable NatGas Muni Vehicles” (Daily GPI,April 19), NGI attributed the repair and maintenance “NGV Easy Bay” system to the wrong company. Easy Bay is a trademarked system developed by Newport Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp., which installs it for facilities operators wishing to modify their operations to accommodate natural gas. NGI regrets the error.

Houston-based Oil and Gas Solutions LLC (OGS) has been awarded an engineering contract by Austin, TX-based Omni Water Solutions Inc. to design Omni’s new HIPPO mobile water treatment system, which would be used to treat and recycle high volumes of water used in hydraulic fracturing. OGS said the system would be a modularized unit that would fit onto a conventional low-boy trailer for easy transport.

Researchers to Make Marcellus Geodatabase Available Online

Information gathered from six separate natural gas development datasets — all currently available on the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) website — have been formatted into a single geodatabase file by the Center for Biodiversity and Ecosystems (CBE) at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, which plans to make the information available through an interactive online map by the end of the year.

The Appalachian region of southeastern Ohio provides supply chain companies with cost-effective and easy access to all of the states involved in the Marcellus and Utica shales, “while maximizing return on investment now and over the life of the shale gas reserves,” according to a white paper by the Ohio Business Development Coalition (OBDC). The state “is the ideal location” for Tier I and II suppliers to the shale gas industry, “offering a central location, logistics infrastructures, a skilled workforce and a favorable state tax structure,” according to the OBDC. Among the tax benefits touted by OBDC: Ohio does not tax products and services sold to customers outside the state.

Evidence that the gas-rich Barnett Shale remains on the industry’s front burner was easy to spot last week, as a new 42-inch diameter gas pipeline project was completed in the area by Energy Transfer Partners LP (ETP) and Crosstex Energy announced plans to build an $80 million natural gas processing facility.
