Great Lakes Gas Transmission experienced a rupture Friday morning on one of its dual pipelines downstream of the Crystal Falls (MI) Compressor Station. Gas flow on the parallel line was shut in immediately but restored that afternoon. Repair of the ruptured line is under way, Great Lakes said Monday. It continues to implement operational arrangements with interconnecting upstream and downstream pipelines in order to maintain firm delivery commitments.
LADWP Streamlines Gas-Buying Processes
The nation’s largest municipal utility, the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), has the dual challenge this month of streamlining its natural gas-buying abilities to conform with a new city charter and also adapting to a new general manager following the departure of the high-profile S. David Freeman, who now heads up California’s new state power authority. Freeman’s plans to take interests in pipelines or production have been placed on the back-burner due to favorable transportation and commodity prices right now, a department source said.

For a change Pacific Gas & Electric had more gas in itssystem than it wanted. The dual utility had a systemwide Stage 3high-inventory OFO with zero tolerance for positive dailyimbalances in effect Monday but did not extend the order intotoday.
