Re-opening El Paso Line 1110 Uncertain; 12th Victim Dies

As the week of the worst natural gas pipeline disaster on recordever drew to a close, with the last victim dying on Friday, federalregulators weren’t saying when El Paso Natural Gas could re-open atleast one of the three lines comprising its South Mainline systemthat was ordered shut down following the explosion in New Mexicothat claimed 12 lives (see Daily GPI, Aug. 25).

OK Attorney General Challenges OCC-Oneok Deal

Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson is appealing the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s (OCC) preliminary approval of a stipulation agreement between the OCC and Oneok (parent of Oklahoma Natural Gas). The agreement consolidates two ongoing rate cases and provides for an interim rate reduction for Oklahoma customers of ONG and Kansas Gas Service of $5 million per year beginning in September. The attorney general maintains a larger rate reduction may be in order.

Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson last week accusedOklahoma Corporation Commissioners of having improper discussionswith ONG during recent settlement negotiations and has asked eachcommissioner to recuse him/herself from the proceedings if suchdiscussions indeed happened. None of the three commissioners agreedto do so.
