Unlike the East-West price movement division that markedFriday’s and Monday’s trading, the cash market returned Tuesday toa unified trend that resembled last Thursday’s: down considerably.

BC Gas selected Marine Pipeline Construction, a division of MurphyPipeline Inc., as its contractor for the 188-mile, 24-inch diameterSouthern Crossing gas pipeline. The contractor will begin movingequipment immediately to locations along the pipeline route, whichstretches from Oliver to Yahk, BC. Construction is expected to beginbefore June 1 and be completed by November. The C$377 million projectwill be designed to initially transport 250 MMcf/d with room forexpansion to 600 MMcf/d. Allegheny’s Purchase of West Virginia Power Rolls On

The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) gave itsblessing yesterday to the proposed purchase of UtiliCorp United’s WestVirginia Power division by Allegheny Power, the energy deliverycompany of Allegheny Energy Inc. The $75 million purchase wasannounced last September (see Daily GPI, Sept. 10).Before completion, the Security and ExchangeCommission still must give its approval. Allegheny expects this to bedone later this month. The purchase has already received the go-aheadfrom the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Federal TradeCommission.

GISB Certifies Its First Standards Reviewer

Jim Buccigross, regulatory division manager of Boston-basedenergy consulting firm Skipping Stone Inc., is the energyindustry’s first Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB)-certifiedreviewer. Through GISB, Buccigross has the authority to review andcertify that a company’s software meets crucial criteria thatsupports GISB-set standards.

CMS Adds Midstream and Downstream Assets

CMS Gas Transmission and Storage Co., the new pipeline division of the Michigan utility, continued to grow last week as its subsidiary CMS Continental Natural Gas purchased Anson Gas Marketing and the Midcontinent Gas Pipeline from Chesapeake Energy Marketing. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Coastal Buys Utah Midstream Assets

Complementing its integrated operations in Northeast Utah andwestern Colorado, Coastal Field Services, Coastal’s midstreamdivision, bought the Bluebell and Altonah gathering systems andprocessing plants located in the Duchesne and Uintah counties ofUtah. Financial terms were not disclosed.
