Rick Perry called for dismantling the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the suspension and reconsideration of several rules administered by the EPA, the creation of a separate court to address challenges to energy projects, and greater access to onshore and offshore oil and natural gas resources.

The dismantling of former gas and power titan Aquila Inc. moved a step closer to completion last week. Great Plains Energy Inc., the parent company of Kansas City Power & Light, received approval from its shareholders to issue common stock for its acquisition of Aquila.
