Magnum Hunter to Construct Gas Processor in West Virginia
Magnum Hunter Resources Corp. said Friday it plans to fund construction of a 200 MMcf/d capacity cryogenic natural gas processing plant to serve shale gas producers in the West Virginia portion of the Marcellus Shale.
Shale Gas, NGLs Allow Rich to Get Richer, Says Bentek
With higher natural gas liquids (NGL) prices relative to natural gas, a continued surge in output from the gas shale plays and cryogenic gas processing technologies, new infrastructure continues to be in high demand for the U.S. liquids market, according to a report by Bentek Energy LLC.
Yergin: ‘Shale Gale’ Transforms Gas Market
The “shale gale” that has swept across the United States and into Canada already has more than doubled the size of discovered natural gas resources in North America and is enough to satisfy more than 100 years of consumption at current rates, according to a study by IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).

Transportation Notes
NGPL said it had discovered an anomaly on the A/G Line in Segment 15 near Station 801, which will require it to operate at reduced capacity for gas flowing west through Station 801. NGPL said it was reducing Segment 15 backhauls, and effective Saturday until further notice IT and Secondary out-of-path firm transportation in the segment was unavailable, while Secondary in-path and Primary services were at risk of not being scheduled.

Pacific Gas and Electric did not extend a systemwide low-inventory OFO beyond Tuesday.
Potential Breakthrough Could Protect Groundwater from CBM Production
Researchers have discovered a way to distinguish between groundwater and the water co-produced with coalbed methane (CBM) gas, which may allow natural gas producers to tap more resources with less impact to the environment.
