Cardinal Gas Storage Partners LLC unit Cadeville Gas Storage LLC has executed a 10-year precedent agreement with Shell Energy North America (US) LP to construct a depleted reservoir gas storage facility in Ouachita Parish, LA, near the Perryville/Delhi Hub in northeast Louisiana. “…[A]bundant supply has triggered renewed interest in natural gas from a variety of industries, including power generation, commercial and manufacturing sectors,” said Shell Energy North America President Frans Everts. “Cadeville’s strategic location will enhance Shell Energy’s ability to provide attractive supply options to customers located east of the Rockies.” The facility is expected to be in service in 2013 and designed to have 17 Bcf of working gas capacity.

FERC has approved Tricor Ten Section Hub LLC’s proposal to convert a depleted oil and natural gas reservoir in Southern California to a high-deliverability multi-cycle gas storage facility to cater to multiple markets in the West. California-based Tricor Energy LLC, parent of the storage company, is an independent energy firm that produces, transports and sells natural gas from its oilfields in California.

Cove Point Says Shale Siphoning Away Interest in LNG

Due to “significant decline in usage” at its facility on the Maryland shore as a resulting of expanding shale gas supplies, Dominion Cove Point LNG LP (DCP) Friday called on FERC to clarify that under its tariff it has the authority to require shippers to deliver liquefied natural gas (LNG) by tanker to its import terminal to keep the cryogenic portions of the terminal cooled or face penalties.
